Otitis media is an inflammatory process in the ear. Most often this disease affects children. At the age of 3 years, about 80% of children suffer at least once otitis. This is due to the fact that the Eustachian tube (connects the tympanic cavity and pharynx) they have a narrow, short and straight, so the infection rapidly penetrates into the tympanic cavity and mucus and pus outflow therefrom is difficult.
Symptoms of otitis
Otitis externa is an inflammation of the skin of the ear and ear canal, often occurs in the form of a boil. The infection gets into the ear with water retention in it, for example, during the voyage, injury with a sharp object. Patients complain of the presence of pain, which are enhanced by pressing the tragus of the ear, itching, swelling, redness.
Acute otitis media accompanied by pain and tinnitus, hearing loss, a sense of transfusion fluid moving head, exuding from the ear. In its course are three stages: catarrhal, purulent and replacement. Children become restless, constantly pulled by the affected ear.
Chronic otitis media occurs in waves with alternating exacerbations and remissions. Patients complain of headaches, hearing loss, dizziness, recurrent selection, a feeling of pressure in the ear.
Inner ear infection is accompanied by tinnitus, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, hearing loss, impaired balance.
